Roman
22-23 AD. 5th issue

Semi minted in the name of Emperor Tiberius in the Hispano-Roman mint of Ilici (La Alcudia de Elche). Type Vives 133-11.
Obverse side of the coin has the Latin legend TI CAESAR DIVI AVG F AVG P M and the laurelled bust of Tiberius facing left.
Reverse side has the Latin legend M IVL SETTAL L SESTI CELER II VIR and an altar with an inscription on two lines. Inside the altar the legend reads: SAL AVG, with the letters C I I A on the sides.

Ilici was the only Hispano-Roman town in the Alicante area to issue coins, and it minted six bronze issues. The altar which appears on the reverse side refers to the dedication of an altar to the Empress Livia. The legend indicates that this coin was minted when M. Iulius Settal and L. Sestius Celer were the duumvirs of Ilici.
