Greece and Iberia are two peninsulas located at the far ends of the Mediterranean and joined, rather than separated, by the sea. At the dawn of Classical Greece, the Greeks located some of their myths and legends in the far west, which gradually faded away as sailors reached their shores. Greek products and ideas reached Iberia either directly or through other seafarers and traders who acted as intermediaries. The influence they exerted on Iberian culture, although evident, has been the subject of much discussion and reflection, and their study has been one of the pillars of Spanish Classical Archaeology for decades.
