ELS MUSULMANS AL COMTAT

NOVA EXPOSICIÓ PER A LA FIRA DE TOTS SANTS DEL CENTRE D'ESTUDIS CONTESTANS

One of the activities that most characterises the CEC is its dissemination work. The publications, the biennial exhibitions on the occasion of the Cocentaina All Saints' Festival and the installations of the Archaeological and Ethnological Museum of the Comtat, have allowed us to bring the heritage closer to everyone: the people of Cocentaina and the region, those who visit us, and especially the schoolchildren who can enjoy the museum.

Among the work that the Centre d'Estudis Contestans is currently carrying out, we would like to highlight the work that for more than a year has been devoted to the study of the Muslim presence in the lands of El Comtat. An extensive research work of historical, archaeological and ethnological documentation, with the realization of numerous photographs and

Planimetries of castles and depopulated areas, panels explaining the innovations that the Muslims brought and their survival today: town planning, regs, mills, gastronomy, toponymy, etc..,

To set up the exhibition, the two floors and the different exhibition rooms that make up the Museu Arqueològic i Etnològic del Comtat, located at Carrer Major, 3 in Cocentaina, have undergone a major refurbishment and refurbishment; the exhibition has been organised into thematic rooms dedicated to: farmhouses and depopulated areas, castles, the contribution of the Muslims to our culture, religion, Muslim epigraphy in the Comtat, Arab writing in the Comtat, monetary circulation, ceramics, to finish with a room dedicated to the event of the expulsion of 1609.
