SPECIALISED MASTER'S DEGREE IN EUROPEAN MUSEOGRAPHY

From Friday 11 June 2010 until Sunday 13, the MARQ is hosting the 1st edition of the Specialised Master in European Museology organised by the IULM University of Milan in collaboration with the MARQ.

The Alicante museum will be the setting for the practical phase of the master's degree, which began its theoretical lessons in December.

The Master, the first of its kind to be organised in Italy, combines in its teaching programme theoretical lessons given by experts in museums in Italy and abroad with study trips that will give students the possibility of direct "field" learning in quality European museums.

Thus, the Master's internship period starts with a training trip to MARQ, winner of the EMYA European Museum of the Year Award 2004 and one of the few museums in Europe to have activated TQM Total Quality Management.

During these training days, participants in the master's degree will learn about the museum's collections, the research programme and educational activities, and will take a tour of the permanent galleries in order to get to know the MARQ's innovative museographic proposal, as well as its procedures and quality protocols. In the same way, the participants will travel to the Lucentum and Illeta dels Banyets (El Campello) archaeological sites in order to get to know the museum's archaeological parks.

This master's degree was created with the aim of responding to the demand for specialised training in cultural management within the museum sector and has an international scientific committee made up of renowned specialists such as Prof. Massimo Negri (Dtor. Scientific Director of the Master), Davide Rampello (President of the Triennale of Milan), Xavier Pès (Director of the magazine Museum Practice), Sneska Quaedvlieg-Mihailovic (Secretary General of Europa Nostra) and José Alberto Cortés Garrido (Director-Manager of MARQ), among others.
