The Alicante Provincial Council presented this morning at the Costa Blanca stand at FITUR the cultural offerings from MARQthe MUBAG and the ADDA for 2012.
The infrastructures of the provincial institution will offer a complete and varied programme of exhibitions and concerts of an international nature, as well as a number of different events. proposals and leisure activities.
The President of the Alicante Provincial Council Luisa Pastorthe Member of Parliament for Tourism Joaquín Albaladejo and the mayoress of Alicante Sonia Castedo presented this morning the cultural novelties that visitors will be able to enjoy in the province.
The ADDA has organised a programme for the winter-spring 2012 season which includes seven concerts of an international nature that will take place between 24 January and 19 May.
Luisa Pastor commented that "This first season definitively places the province of Alicante and its Auditorium on the Spanish and international symphonic map. In this way, we are launching this new infrastructure, a space created for everyone and intended for symphonic or chamber music performances, also capable of hosting major events and cultural celebrations.".
The repertoire of the different performances combines well-known works by Ravel, Mozart, Beethoven, Verdi, Tchaikovsky o Bach with other national ones such as Francisco Llácer Pla and includes diverse genres such as baroque music, contemporary music and Valencian music.
For its part, the MARQ, the best European museum in 2004, will this year have a programme of local and international exhibitions and will continue with its scientific-technical and research workas well as with their educational workshops, its programme of site visits and lecture series.
The exhibitions "The treasure of the Barbarians" and "Santa Pola. Archaeology and Museum" will be the two exhibitions on offer in 2012. The first of the exhibitions, from the Palatinate Historical Museum from the German town of Speyer, presents for the first time in Spain the finding of "Neupotz"treasure found under the Rhine waters and which brought to light one of the largest assemblages of Roman-period metalwork in Europe. More than 1,100 pieces in bronze, brass, iron and silver make up this haul.
In the museum hall there will also be exhibited various pieces such as the "Mural of Roman painting of the Villa de la Quintilla". of the Museum of Lorca (Murcia), "The amorette: a 19th century musical instrument".and the "Figure Egyptian wood".both pieces from MARQ's collections, the "Platelet of the Cova del Parpalló". from the museum collection of Gata de Gorgos and "The metallic grave goods from the burial site of the eastern cave of Peñón de la Zorra". of the Museum of Villena.
Luisa Pastor has specified that "This is a wide and complete programme that will allow the people of Alicante and all those who visit us to enjoy different archaeological manifestations, from our province and from other international collections.".
"It is a first-class programme in a year in which we are celebrating the 80th anniversary of the museum and the tenth anniversary of MARQ, since it was inaugurated by Queen Sofía in 2002", the President pointed out.
Last year the MARQ registered 158,527 visitswhile more than 44,600 people visited the archaeological sites of Lucentum, the Illeta dels Banyets, the Neolithic sanctuary of Pla de Petracos in Castell de Castells and the Almohad tower of Almudaina.
Finally, the Gravina Fine Arts Museum is also commemorating its tenth anniversary this year with a exhibition dedicated to the Alicante painter Emilio Varelaas well as with a new corporate image which represents an arch that crosses the name of the museum and which is identified with this emblematic 18th century building in Alicante.
The exhibition "Emilio Varela in the Alicante Provincial Council Collection"The exhibition, which opened last December, can be visited until 27 May 2012 in the room dedicated to the artist. The aim of this initiative is to paying tribute to Varela The exhibition will show for the first time the entire collection of the author's work that is permanently housed in the provincial institution.
The exhibition, consisting of 30 works in oil on canvas and cardboard.The exhibition, which includes various themes, such as landscapes of the city of Alicante and the province, and self-portraits.
The deputy for Tourism has stated that ".culture is another of the attractions that tourists can find when visiting the province and which complements the sun and beach offer. This year, especially, Alicante is celebrating the anniversary of two of the most representative cultural landmarks of our land".

Finally, Sonia Castedo has highlighted the variety of the Costa Blanca's offer and pointed out that ".This quality is what makes the tourism sector in the province of Alicante great, having the capacity to offer tourists a wide variety of products so that they can choose the one that most interests them.".
