The MARQ has held a meeting of the Board of Trustees of its foundation to discuss various matters relating to the taking over of the new trusteesthe exhibition programme of the museum for the second half of the year of the year, as well as the summer activitiesamong others.
The President of the Alicante Provincial Council Luisa Pastor presided over the session which approved the incorporation of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport the Fundación Comunitat Valenciana MARQ as a new trustee, along with the La Vila Town Council. The event was attended by the deputy director general of State Museums Enrique Varela and the director of the Archaeological Museum of La Vila Antonio EspinosaThese institutions have joined the Foundation, whose meeting was also attended by the Director General for Cultural Heritage Marta Alonsorepresenting the Generalitat Valenciana.
Luisa Pastor pointed out that for the first time all the administrations have come together as patrons of the MARQ Foundation, a fact that will allow us to move in the same direction and optimise resources to offer the public a varied and quality programme, as the museum has been doing throughout its ten years of history.
For his part, Enrique Varela indicated that the MARQ, of which the Ministry of Culture is now also a part, is the first museum in the province of Alicante and the second in the Valencian Community. Varela pointed out that the state presence will benefit the Alicante museum and will allow it to be integrated into a network of information and collaboration with other administrations to coordinate joint actions..
Summer at MARQ
The MARQ has organised for the summer period a series of playful and didactic activities aimed at the very young, through the Llumiq Club.
From 3 July to 28 August the museum will carry out various actions for young people including games, drawing and essay competitions, workshops and guided tours with educational content.
Daylight saving time change
The new timetable for opening of the museum to the public for the summer campaign, which will last from 1 July to 31 August will be 11:00 to 14:00 hours and 18:00 to 24:00 hours from Tuesday to Saturday. On Sundays and public holidays the centre will be open from 11:00 to 14:00 and closed on Mondays.
The sites of the Tossal de Manises and Illeta dels Banyets open, until 15 Septemberof 09:00 to 12:00 hours and 18:00 to 21:00 Tuesday to Saturday. Sunday mornings only and Mondays will be closed.
Exhibition programme
The MARQ is currently hosting the exhibition '.The treasure of the Barbarians'.The exhibition, which comes from the Palatinate Historical Museum in the German town of Speyer, will be open to the public. until next October.
Subsequently, the temporary rooms of the centre will host end of the year 'Santa Pola. Archaeology and Museum'. as part of the exhibition programme of local museums. This initiative will be extended in 2013 with exhibitions from other municipalities in the province such as Orihuela, Alfàs del Pi, Aspe, Gata de Gorgos, Benidorm or Relleu.
