The Diputación de Alicante has organised a special open day in the Almudaina Tower coinciding with its third year of opening to the public. The activity, with free access and aimed at people of all ageswill take place this weekend. Thus, the Saturday 11 August the Almohad monument can be visited free of charge from 10:00 to 14:00 hours and from 19:00 to 21:00 hourswhile the Sunday 12 August access shall be free of 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m..
Through this activity, the provincial institution aims to to make this fortress known to the public originating from the first half of the 13th century anddeclared an Asset of Cultural Interest.
Throughout these three years, about 5,300 people have approached this complex dating back to the Islamic period managed by the MARQ Foundationwhich highlights the cultural heritage of the province. Schoolchildren and visitors from all over Alicante and the rest of Spain have been able to enjoy this museum, divided into four floorsThe museum offers a journey through the history of this structure and of the municipality of Almudaina.

The property was restored and museumised by on Architecture Area of the Diputación de Alicante. After its opening to the public in August 2009, the Torrequedóintegrated into the network of sites,archaeological parks and interpretation centres of the MARQ and its FoundationIt is possible to arrange a visit through the MARQ Visits Arrangements Service by calling 965.149.006 or at the Tower itself.
The Member of Parliament for Culture Juan Bautista Roselló has pointed out that "After its recovery, the Almudaina Tower has become a cultural and tourist resource of the first order. Its privileged location and height make it a perfect vantage point from which to enjoy a beautiful panoramic view over the entire Planes valley.".
