MARQ designs a programme of family activities in autumn to attract more visitors to the museum

The MARQ has programmed for the autumn-winter season a number of different cultural activities which include new educational workshops for children, dramatised visits for the whole family and guided tours for schoolchildren in the province. The aim of these initiatives is to to promote the dissemination of the museum and bring the sites closer to the public archaeological to citizens.

The President of the Alicante Provincial Council Luisa Pastor yesterday chaired the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of the Fundación Comunidad Valenciana MARQ which was also informed about the incorporation of SUMA Tax Management and Telefónica de España S.A.U. as new museum sponsors.

As for the cultural proposals that are planned from next October onwards, there is a programme aimed at children between 8 and 12 years old which encompasses educational workshops and museum visits the Saturday afternoons. In addition, the Sunday mornings an activity will be developed for the whole family which combines a excursion to MARQ and another to the archaeological sites of the Tossal de Manises, in the Roman city of Lucentum, or the Illeta dels Banyets, in El Campello. The idea is for participants to move from one site to another by walking, cycling or using the TRAM.

In addition, it is intended to continue the programme of dramatised visits to the international exhibition "The Kingdom of Salt. 7,000 years of Hallstatt history". the Saturday afternoons and strengthening relations with the province's schools and collegesThe museum will be providing them with all the information on the educational offerings of both the museum and the archaeological parks it manages.

The Foundation has also agreed that, as of next October, it will be possible to modify MARQ's opening hours to extend its opening on Saturday afternoons. Thus, the museum will be open from Tuesday to Friday from 10:00 to 19:00 hours, while on Saturdays from 10:00 to 20:30 hours and on Sundays and public holidays from 10:00 to 14:00 hours. On Mondays, as before, it will remain closed.
