The MARQ project "Virtual reconstructions of archaeological sites in the province of Alicante" has been selected to form part of the content of the Archeovirtual 2013The exhibition, the largest international exhibition on virtual heritage in Europe, is currently on display in Marseille as part of the International Digital Heritage Congress.
The Medieval village of Ifach in Calpthe medieval castle of Guardamar del Segurathe walled enclosure of La Vila Joiosathe renaissance coastal watchtower of Aquiló and the Roman villa of El Palmeral in Santa Pola are the enclaves included in this work, made up of non-interactive audiovisual productions where the visitor can contemplating and understanding reality of these monuments.
In this regard, the deputy for Culture Juan Bautista Roselló has pointed out that this initiative offers a complete tour of the monuments and their surroundings, while including different elements for a better understanding, aspects that allow citizens to immerse themselves in the historical reality of the enclave, recovering its original state..
The project, based on the meticulous contribution of data from archaeological research, has been developed by the Alicante centre with the collaboration of the MARQ Foundation and the museums of Calp, Guardamar del Segura, La Vila Joiosa and Santa Pola. The aim of this action, which is part of the exhibition programme "Local Museums at MARQ", is to enhance the value of some of the province's most important sites, a task whose physical reconstruction would be costly and time-consuming.
