Yesterday, 5 November, the MARQ received the award SOLIDARITY ELEVEN VALENCIAN COMMUNITY 2013 at the gala that took place at the Atarazanas del Grao in Valencia organised by the Territorial Council of the ONCE in Valencia. The President of the Provincial Council of Alicante, Ms. Luisa Pastorreceived the award from the President of the Valencian Parliament, Juan CotinosThe event was attended by Ms. Rita Barbera Nolla, Mayoress of Valencia, Ms. Asunción Sánchez Zaplana, Minister of Social Welfare of the GVA and Mr. Miguel Carballeda Piñeiro, President of the ONCE and its Foundation.
The MARQ was awarded as the Public Administration body that stands out for developing ongoing programmes and projects related to accessibility.
In order to really make the MARQ is a museum for everyone has carried out different initiatives, such as Fusser reliefs, transcription of educational guides into Braille, replicas of archaeological pieces both in the museum and in the Archaeological Parks, information panels with Braille information in the archaeological site of the Tossal de Manises,Didactic and interactive sign-guides that allow deaf people to approach the contents of the museum, campaigns of guided visits in SL, dramatised visits in sign language, Programme of Workshop Visits for Special Education and functional diversity schools, Educational Projects related to Accessibility. These actions aim to contribute to making the visit to the MARQ satisfactory for everyone, complementing and enriching the experience of access to the Archaeological Heritage.
In addition, in order to ensure that the MARQ is a museum for everyone, a commitment has been made to collaborate with organisations and associations (APESOA, ASSOCIATION ALICANTINA DE SÍNDROME DE DOWN, ASPALI, ONCE from Alicante, Fontcalent Psychiatric Hospitaletc.) with the materialisation in Agreements to achieve the full integration of people with disabilities. This commitment includes the continuous exchange of experiences and the promotion of the development of new initiatives.
