The Foundation of the Valencian Community MARQ has prepared a full and varied programme of fun and educational activities for the youngest members of the family over the Christmas holidays. The traditional festival of the lighting of theChristmas tree the next Friday 13 December at 19:00 hours will mark the start of these free proposals, which also include,tchildren's theatre,royal mailbox, wishing tree, inflatables, concerts, raffles and workshops.
In addition, the museum is showing its most altruistic side these days and is making available to all citizens a '.solidarity space' to collect toys and non-perishable food which will then be given to the neediest families through the Red Cross and the Alicante Food Bank. Solidarity will be another of the centre's proposals.
The special Christmas calendar offers youngsters the opportunity to enjoy and learn through a series of activities shows and theatre plays which will be performed on days 26 (Lollipop Theatre: In Search of the Three Wise Men) and 27 December (Pàmpol Teatre: An elephant?), as well as the 2 (Vicente de Ramón and Patricia Ríos: Space Travel) and 3 January (El Mago Antuán: Family Magic)at 12.30 p.m. at the MARQ. Admission will be free and limited to the capacity of the hall.
Among the activities planned are also a series of educational workshops for children aged 6 to 12 years related to the museum's permanent collection and temporary exhibition "The Salt Kingdom. In this way, the children will be able to discover various aspects related to their ancestors while they play and have fun creating amber necklaces, reproductions of bronze brooches or ceramic vessels. Those interested in taking part in this initiative, which will take place from 11:00 to 12:30, must pre-register at the centre's ticket offices or by sending an e-mail to the following address [email protected].
Music takes centre stage this Christmas with two performances to be held in the MARQ Library. The Saturday 14 December at 8.30 p.m. will take place a dolçaina and organ concertwhile the monday 16at the same time, the Chamber Choir of the l'Harmonia Musical Society will offer a solidarity recital, as the ticket will be exchanged for non-perishable food.
Friends of the museum and members of the Club Llumiq who come to the centre during these days will also be able to deposit your letter for the Three Wise Men from the East in the Royal Mailbox o hanging a ball with their messages and hopes for the coming year 2014 in the famous 'wishing tree'. Finally, the days 2,3 and 4 JanuaryMARQ will be hosting a series of car-related activities which will include an exhibition of classic and racing cars, inflatables, driving simulators and raffles, among other proposals. Admission will be free in exchange for a toy.
