The MARQ and ASOCIDE CV will collaborate to facilitate access to the museum for people with disabilities.

 

The Foundation of the Valencian Community MARQ and the Spanish Deafblind Association -Territorial Delegation of the Valencian Community - have signed a collaboration agreement to promoting accessibility of the members of this group to the facilities of the Archaeological Museum of Alicante and the sites of Tossal de Manises and Illeta del Banyets.

         The President of the Alicante Provincial Council Luisa Pastor and the president of ASOCIDE CV Francisco J. Trigueros have signed this morning this agreement which includes, among other actions, the programming of guided tours adapted for deafblind people or dramatised visits and didactic audiovisuals in sign language..

        In addition, the members of the association will be allowed to use of the MARQ spaces for meetings,conferences or courses and the access to the different archaeological pieces and materials that form part of the museum's collection or that are on display in its exhibitions. through touchIn this way, the deafblind people will be able to find out about the contents of the centre easily and simply through reproductions..

Pastor said that the aim of this initiative is to open the doors of the Archaeological Museum of Alicante and make it more accessible to people from this group.. He added that The MARQ is an example to follow in terms of integration and has been collaborating for years with various associations and organisations in the province in the implementation of initiatives aimed at the disabled public. In this regard, it should be noted that its accessibility project received one of the Solidarity Awards granted by the ONCE Foundation of the Valencian Community last November..

       For his part, Trigueros stressed the importance of this collaboration agreement which will allow deafblind people to visit, through touch or smell, content and presentations which the MARQ continually hosts. This is a step forward that facilitates access to culture of our collective.

        To facilitate the execution of these initiatives and their trackingas well as for the incorporation of new proposalsthe agreement also provides for the establishment of a Joint Committee composed of members from both sides.
