Children are the focus of MARQ's special programme for Easter and Monuments Day

 

 

On the occasion of the celebration on friday 18 april of the 'International Day for Monuments and Sites' and the forthcoming holidays of Easterthe MARQ has programmed a complete calendar of recreational and educational activities. Workshops, competitions, theatrical performances and open days are just some of the activities on offer, especially for the youngest members of the family.

         In this way, the MARQ will commemorate these festivities by celebrating open days with free admission on 18, 19 and 20 April at the sites of Tossal de Manises, Illeta dels Banyets, Pla de Petracos and Torre de Almudaina.

In addition, the calendar offers youngsters the opportunity to enjoy and learn through a series of shows and plays to be performed on the following days 22, 23, 24 and 25 April at 12.30 p.m. in the MARQ Assembly Hall. Admission will be free and limited to the capacity of the hall. However, the museum asks visitors to make a voluntary contribution of non-perishable foodstuffs. which will subsequently be delivered to the Alicante Food Bank.

Friends of the museum and members of Club Llumiq who come to the centre during these dates will also be able to participate in the workshops related to the temporary exhibition "Orihuela. Archaeology and Museum" that MARQ has organised. Activities with Schools

The school centres in Alicante will also join in the celebration of the 'International Day for Monuments and Sites' and will take part in the upcoming tuesday 15 april in the various educational workshops that the school has organised for them to get to know the different archaeological sites in the province. In this way, the pupils of the CEIP La Albufereta will be able to discover in the Tossal de Manises what life was like in a Roman city in the 1st century A.D., while those in the schools will be able to discover what life was like in a Roman city in the 1st century A.D. Rafael Altamira, El Vincle and El Fabraquer will go to the Illeta del Banyets, where they will carry out an activity related to adobe and brick.

The programme also includes a guided tour of the rock art routes of the Pla de Petracos on that day, with the participation of the La Serrella and La Xara centresas well as a workshop in the Almudaina Tower for the pupils of the school. Tirant'lo Blanc and another in La Torre de Maçanes for the CP Torremanzanas.
