A Great Friend of MARQ passes away

We have lost a great friend. Last Monday, 30 June, our dear Antonio Campos Pardillos passed away in the Aragonese Pyrenees. We still can't believe it. A great lover of culture and its dissemination, a retired teacher who at 67 years of age was still in top form, hiking and cycling around the region of l'AlacantíHe was a great help to us, especially in his beloved Huerta, where he helped many of us to discover a multitude of treasures.

A tireless collaborator with associations, groups, town councils, institutes and schools, few were the weekends that he was not happy to accompany citizens and share all his knowledge about the Huerta of Alicante and mainly, about the numerous defensive constructions that are erected there, as bastions in the oblivion that had their enormous importance in the past, in the same way (as he considered) they have it nowadays for being part of our Cultural Heritage, which deserves to be known, respected and protected.

Thanks to people like him, and other friends such as Patricia, Juan López (Plinthus), Jose, Jara, Pedro, Enric, Jose Luis, Jaume and many others, we organised from the MARQ the recent Walking and Cycling Routes through the Torres de la Huerta, which were so well received and which left us in such a good place, the Archaeological Museum of Alicante, which would never have reached where it did if it had not been for the enormous altruistic work done by all these people, and especially by our dear Antonio, as he was always there, on the front lineor rather, at the foot of the "Torres de la Huerta" to be our guide-collaborator.

In addition, together with our technical specialist in the subject, José Luis Menéndez, we were able to offer a talk on this subject so unknown to the people of Alicante, in the same way that we can continue to offer a didactic guide for our visitors with the most interesting aspects, with the collaboration of Plinthus in the design of the Topoguide of the place.

From here, wherever you are Toni, we can only say that we have been left a little orphaned with your departure, that we had many projects planned. That we missed a walking or cycling route to the Illeta dels Banyets and a visit to the Tower, as you would have liked. That we have been very lucky to have met you and to have had your collaboration. It was a great pleasure to have shared experiences and I am sure that the flame you helped to light will remain lit in those around you. Among them we, the MARQ.
