The Archaeological Museum of Alicante is celebrating this weekend the 'International Day for Monuments and Siteswith an open day at the archaeological sites of the Tossal de Manises -in Lucentum-, the Illeta del Banyets -in El Campello-, the Pla de Petracos -in Castell de Castells- or the Almohad Tower of Almudaina.
This initiative aims to disseminating the province's rich archaeological heritageand to arouse visitors' curiosity to discover the history of their ancestors. International Monuments Day has been celebrated every 18 April for more than 30 years to promote the diversity of humanity's cultural heritage, as well as to increase efforts for its conservation and protection.
The Archaeological Museum of Alicante joins, once again, this year, the global proposal and opens the doors of its four archaeological parks. In the Tossal de Manises you can see what life was like in a Roman city in the 1st century AD, while in the Illeta dels Banyets a tour of the site will allow you to visit the remains of the settlement located in one of the most significant corners of the Alicante coastline. The Almudaina Tower and the Sanctuary of Plá de Petracos also offer this weekend free access to its facilities located in Almudaina and Castell de Castells, respectively.
