This week, the Archaeological Museum of Alicante ends its summer programme of children's activities which this year has been attended by around 300 childrenThis initiative will culminate tomorrow Friday with a big farewell party which will take place in the gardens of the MARQ and to which all those who have participated in this cultural proposal, which has been developed during the months of July and August, are invited.
During the day, which will begin at 18:00 hoursThe presentation of prizes and diplomas for the Best Children's Group of the Summer, the Best Piece Reproductions and the Best Drawings. In addition, to liven up the afternoon, there will be various actions, games, dances and magic. The activity, to which the boys' families are also invited, will end with a small snack and a farewell photo on the stairs of the museum.
The programme 'Summer at MARQ', which this year has reached its eleventh edition, is aimed at children between 6 and 14 years of age. These week-long courses allow them to learn while enjoying the contents of the museum's temporary exhibitions and its permanent collection.
Precisely this year, one of the objectives of this project has been to transmit to the children the importance of conserving and recovering our historical and cultural heritage. This idea was promoted by means of a workshop centred on the exhibition "The last voyage of the Fragata Mercedes", where the youngest children were able to identify the circumstances of the sinking of this ship and learn about the world of navigation and international trade in the Napoleonic era.
In addition, the participants were given a close-up look at the remains of the archaeological sites of the Tossal de Manisesin the Roman city of Lucentum, and the Illeta dels BanyetsThe museum has included guided tours in its summer calendar of activities in El Campello, thanks to the guided tours.
