TVE records a programme on accessibility at the MARQ.

 

 

          The programme of Spanish Television 'In Sign Languagehas recently visited the Archaeological Museum of Alicante to report on its interesting accessibility projectThe aim of this plan is to bring the province's cultural heritage closer to the whole of society and to achieve the full integration of people with disabilities.

         The programme, which will be broadcast tomorrow Saturday 2 April at 11:00 on TVE.The guided tours in sign language that the MARQ has been carrying out periodically for the temporary exhibition "Cocentaina. Archaeology and Museums".

      The Vice-President and Member of Parliament for Culture, César Augusto AsencioHe highlighted the peculiarity of these routes, ".that are taught by people with hearing impairment"and explained that "through this proposal, promoted in collaboration with APESOA Alicante and FESORD Comunidad Valenciana, we aim to improve the quality of life and promote the autonomy and integration of this group in the different social areas.".

    Furthermore, the deputy stressed that ".As a novelty, we have recently installed 'interpreter points' in the exhibition halls where the guides explain under a beam of light that allows their hands to be fully visible to the groups of deaf people doing the activity.".

      During their visit to the Alicante centre, the journalists interviewed some of the people involved in this innovative project, such as the museum's technical director, Manuel Olcinathe exhibition manager, Jorge Solerthe president of APESOA, Daniel de La Casaor the vice-president of FESORD, Carolina TriguerosIn addition, the recording team was able to see other accessibility programmes that the complex is currently developing, which include the creation of multimedia guides with sign language, the creation of manuals in Braille and the reproduction of exhibits.

         The MARQ has been collaborating for years with the associations of the province on the implementation of initiatives,workshops and educational programmes aimed at promoting the full integration of people with disabilities. "Thanks to this type of collaboration, Alicante's entities have the appropriate means to be able to visit, feel and understand any activity or exhibition that takes place, both in the museum's rooms and in its archaeological sites."Asencio pointed out.
