The European Heritage Days are an annual initiative promoted by the Council of Europe supported by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports and by the Generalitat Valenciana through its Consellería d' Educació, Investigació, Cultura i Esport .
The aim of this conference is to highlighting Cultural Heritage and raise awareness of the value it has on its geographical, cultural and social environment for its knowledge, enhancement and protection.
MARQ participates in these conferences during 2016 and 2017, which means a projection and dissemination of its activities mainly through its website. www.europeanheritagedays.com-This makes future projects possible, either on its own or in collaboration with other organisations.
In addition to the Open Dayswhich will be held by the Museum on 9 and 12 October from 10 am to 2 pm and with free admission, on Sunday 16, on the occasion of the "Heritage and Communities" Day, there will be dramatised visits to the Vikings exhibition as well as educational workshops for families and a family route through the MARQ.
Of the two main activities to be carried out as part of this European Conference, the first is the inter-school educational project "The Colony of Santa Eulalia... Experience it! This initiative is part of the ethnological site of La Colonia de Santa Eulalia, located in the Alto Vinalopó region of Alicante, between the municipalities of Sax and Villena. The project involves 9 schools, 50 teachers, pupils and other educational bodies and several local councils. and will be unveiled on 11 October in the MARQ auditorium.
Lastly, from Thursday 13 to Saturday 15 October, the III International Congress "Education and Accessibility in Museums and Heritage" to be held at the MARQ in Alicante and Vilamuseum in Villajoyosa. At the event, national and international experts and professionals will analyse the need to promote accessible cultural and natural tourism, both indoors and outdoors.
