Yesterday afternoon, the participants in this third International Congress went on a guided tour of the Tossal de Manises archaeological site, which belongs to the MARQ and is located near the Albufereta beach and is home to the Roman city of Lucentum.
Accompanied by Manuel Olcina, technical director of the MARQ, and Rafael Pérez, architect director of the Diputación de Alicante, they were able to visit the archaeological site and observe the museumisation and accessibility measures carried out since the start of the project in 1994.
Both co-directors of the site's consolidation and musealisation work explained to the congress participants the administrative difficulties and the dangers arising from the tourist boom of the 1960s, which almost destroyed the site forever. Access, signage with Braille translation and other elements of accessibility and inclusion make this site one of the most accessible.
