Among the activities planned for the coming week of January is the exhibition "Seeing and Touching" organised by the ONCE Foundation. It is made up of a series of pieces belonging to the collection of the Museo Trifólogico de Madrid and will be inaugurated in the MARQ Library on Wednesday 25th January.
The Typhlological Museum was created by ONCE 25 years ago, firstly, as a service to its members, in response to specific concerns expressed by them on two levels: on the one hand, the need to access the aesthetic experience derived from universal works of art, which were only known through the written or verbal descriptions of other people and never through their own experience; on the other hand, the creators affiliated to the Institution demanded a space where they could exhibit their works and which would become a good showcase for their concerns.
The result of both interests was the creation of a physical space that, by satisfying these demands, would be a point of integration with the rest of society. This last aspect also underlies the decision of the ONCE Culture Department to sponsor and manage the touring of a significant sample of pieces from each of the collections that form part of the Madrid Typhlological Museum's holdings: models of monuments, works by affiliated artists and typhlological material.
On the other hand, next Tuesday 24th at 20.15 hours, the travelling exhibition "Guardians of Stone" will be inaugurated in Crevillente, in the Casa Museo, an exhibition in which five routes show the characteristics and historical context of 84 of the 250 fortifications on the Costa Blanca.
This exhibition, which has previously visited Villena and Xixona, is a travelling exhibition and will be inaugurated by the mayor of Crevillente and deputy for Culture, César Augusto Asencio, together with the director of the MARQ and the managing director of the Foundation, accompanied by representatives of the municipality and Banco Sabadell.
Also, on Tuesday 24th January, the Teacher Training Seminar will begin in the MARQ auditorium. Under the title "Women through the Legacy of MARQ I", the condition and status of women from prehistoric times to the Roman era will be analysed.
The conference will take place on 24, 26, 31 January and 2 February and is aimed at teachers of pre-school, primary and secondary education.
