The staff of the MARQ in Alicante is working tirelessly to set up the international exhibition "Mayas. El enigma de las Ciudades Perdidas", which will have an added value in its museographic discourse: "Mayas de Cerca" in the Sala Noble of the MARQ Library, which will take a journey through the Spanish archaeological missions in Guatemala, highlighting the research work and excavations of the Spanish teams in the Guatemalan Mayan archaeological sites.
Queen Sofia, a great connoisseur of the archaeological expeditions carried out by Spanish specialists in the archaeological sites of Guatemala, has accepted the Presidency of the Honorary Committee of the exhibition, which is a further demonstration of her commitment to the MARQ, just in the year in which it celebrates its 15th Anniversary since HM inaugurated it on 28 May 2002.
To celebrate this anniversary, the Board of Trustees of the MARQ Foundation has arranged, coinciding with the official opening of MAYAS, from the afternoon of 25 May until Sunday 28 May, an Open Day for the entire site during its opening hours, thus joining the whole of Alicante society that has made this journey possible, and calling on it to share many more anniversaries. For many years to come!
