This weekend, on 10 and 11 June, the archaeological site of Lucentum will host the II Jornadas de Recreación Histórica "Reviviscit Lucentum". An initiative that aims to bring the Roman past of our city closer to all Alicante residents.
Those who visit the Tossal de Manises will discover what daily life was like in Roman Lucentum. The most visited archaeological site in the Valencian Community will recreate facts and customs such as the awakening of a magistrate, daily hygiene, Salutatio of clients, religious ceremonies, the taking of auspices, military parades, gladiatorial combats, law, law and Roman trials. All this in a magnificent setting that will transport us back in time thanks to the MARQ.
The capacity of the activities is limited to a maximum of 250 people per session and the ticket price will be 3€ (children under 7 years old can enter for free), tickets can be purchased at the MARQ ticket offices, at the archaeological site of Lucentum and through Instanticket. The sessions will be followed in two groups of 125 people to facilitate mobility during the performances.
On Saturday there will be two sessions: in the morning, from 10h to 13h and in the afternoon, from 18h to 21h. On Sunday, only in the morning, from 10am to 1pm. During these two days the site will only be open to visitors as part of the Reviviscit Lucentum activities.
The dramatisation of Lucentum will be performed by the cultural association HISPANIA ROMANA, a non-profit organisation that studies the Roman presence in our country and elsewhere in the Mediterranean, and above all their culture, language and customs in order to preserve their legacy.
This year, together with the Diputación de Alicante, the MARQ and the Asociación Hispania Romana, the Banco Sabadell Foundation is joining the project, by virtue of the collaboration agreement signed with the MARQ Foundation.
Due to the high temperatures that may be recorded at the site, it is advisable to wear a cap or hat to protect yourself from the sun and water to drink.
