The Sanctuary of Pla de Petracos has a new image

The Provincial Council of Alicante has renewed all the information panels that mark the route to visit the Pla de Petracos Cave Art Sanctuary. Located in the municipality of Castell de Castells, it is one of the most outstanding examples of macro-schematic art in Europe. It is part of the group of Cave Art of the Mediterranean Arc of the Iberian Peninsula, and has been declared an Asset of Cultural Interest and World Heritage Site (1998). Composed of eight shelters, five of which have perfectly visible motifs painted in an intense red, the representation of the human figure is its central theme. Pla de Petracos is one of the most important tourist centres in the mountainous environment of the interior of the province of Alicante.

It can be visited on Fridays and Saturdays from 11:00h to 13:30h and from 17:00h to 19:30h and on Sundays from 11:00h to 13:30h.
