The Didactics, Accessibility and Social Responsibility unit of the CV-Marq Foundation has designed a comprehensive programme of activities for the 2017-2018 school year that is now beginning. For the second year running, Obra Social "la Caixa" will collaborate with the Marq in the implementation of this programme, a commitment that has recently been renewed in the collaboration agreement signed by Felipe Pulido, Commercial Director of CaixaBank in the Valencian Community and the President of the CV-Marq Foundation, César Sánchez.
For "la Caixa" Welfare Projects, this collaboration with the Marq stems from the idiosyncrasy of the entity, "la Caixa", is aware of the formative and educational role of museums in 21st century society, especially in bringing children and young people closer to history, as well as the immense cultural and archaeological heritage of Alicante with the aim of creating a fairer and more prepared society through knowledge and coexistence, in which all people have the same opportunities.
For his part, the President of the Diputación de Alicante, César Sánchez, pointed out that the main new features of this year's event are the international exhibition Mayas. The enigma of the lost citieswhich will remain at the Marq until 7 January 2018. Visits and specific workshops are planned, along with the delivery of educational material, including a teacher's guide and activity booklets for the different educational levels of Infant, Primary and Secondary, which will serve to introduce teachers and students to the fascinating Mayan culture.
The offer for schools for this academic year has also been enriched with a new Restoration Workshop and the extension of the Archaeology Workshop to the sites of Lucentum and La Illeta so that pupils can experience on the ground how the archaeological excavation method works.
The Didactics Programme for the 2017/18 school year will be presented on Thursday 14 September at 18h in the MARQ Assembly Hall.
