Last Saturday afternoon, the MARQ's Assembly Hall was packed to capacity, with almost 200 people attending the live recording of the special that The Compass Scopula is dedicated to the Mayans.
This is a weekly programme on history, legends, mysteries and magical places which, on this occasion, has been entirely devoted to investigating the mysteries of the Mayan civilisation, on the occasion of the exhibition Mayas. The enigma of the lost citieswhich can be visited at the Marq until 7 January 2018. Throughout the more than two and a half hours of the programme, important feats of this civilisation were revealed, such as the discovery of zero, the complexity of their writing, their architectural skill, their extensive astronomical knowledge... a culture of which there is still much to be deciphered and which continues to amaze researchers.
The Marq was represented by the Deputy for Culture, César Augusto Asencio, the managing director of the Marq Foundation, José Alberto Cortés, and the technical director of the Museum, Manuel Olcina. Also present were the director of the Escóbula, Jesús Callejo, the host of the space, David Sentinella, the painter Marcos Carrasco and Juan Ignacio "Maese" Cuesta. A luxury cast for an unrepeatable programme, full of science, mystery, anecdotes and good humour.
