The Marq puts the finishing touch to the International Seminar on Smart Tourism Destinations

The speakers and a large group of attendees at the International Seminar on Smart Tourism Destinations: New Horizons in Tourism Research and Management, organised by the University Institute of Tourism Research (IUIT) of the University of Alicante, came to the Marq to visit its permanent collection and, of course, to stroll through the impressive rooms of the Mayan exhibition.

The University of Alicante is planning this meeting as a scientific event aimed at both academics and the professional sector responsible for the management of both destinations and tourism companies and aimed at analysing the transformation of the way in which tourism management is understood.

One of the Seminar's presentations, given by Professor Elisa Rico, focused on the Marq as an example of an intelligent tourist destination, and dealt with the study of the use of new technologies for the dissemination of Alicante's archaeological heritage and aimed at increasing the quality of the visitor's experience at the Museum. A project based on extensive fieldwork through visitor surveys that has highlighted the Marq's vocation to be a cutting-edge tourist experience.
