It has been an unforgettable seven months, in which we have learned a lot about the rich Mayan culture and their ability to handle astrology,Rolex Cellini Replica Watches The Mayans were able to apply mathematics, to build colossal palaces and temples, and to organise cities that became veritable kingdoms in the middle of the lush Mesoamerican jungle. At the MARQ we have enjoyed, since 25 May, nearly 200 pieces that faithfully reconstruct the way of life of the Mayas, revealing some of the enigmas that have made them one of the most amazing civilisations in the history of humanity, others, however, are still hidden waiting for someone to unveil them... as will continue the relations of cooperation and friendship established thanks to the MAYAS between the MARQ and the Guatemalan museums.
The collections have already set off on their journey home; this very morning the trucks that delicately guard the Mayan treasures set off to return them to their museums of origin, 20 works are going to the German museums, the Museum of Ethnology in Berlin and the Rautenstrauch Joest Museum in Cologne, and the rest will continue on to Amsterdam, from where they will fly to Guatemala to return to their showcases in the National Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology, the La Ruta Maya Foundation and the Neria Herrera Foundation.
The MARQ also wanted to pay tribute in this exhibition to all the Spanish archaeologists and scientists who have been working on Guatemalan excavations for decades. In the main hall of the Library it has housed part of the scientific material used by the University of Valencia and the Polytechnic University of Valencia in their expeditions under the suggestive title of Los Mayas de Cerca (The Mayas from Nearby).
It has been an intense few months. Mayas. The enigma of the lost cities has been a fascinating exhibition, framed in an avant-garde and accessible exhibition design, awarded the Emporia de Oro for the best non-travelling exhibition in Spain in 2017, which has been visited by almost 98,000 people. They are the legacy of Mayas to MARQ, because the affection and admiration of our visitors have ensured that part of Mayas will never leave us. To all of you, THANK YOU.
