The MARQ has been awarded the Stamp of the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018The European Unionthrough the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sporthas granted its Programme of Activities for 2018.
The European Heritage Label is awarded on the basis of three criteriathat the centre has played a central role in the European culturewhich has a dynamic and attractive project promoting the European dimension, and, finally, to have a WORK PLAN and activities.
For the Museum, this recognition is an opportunity to participate in and be part of a year that celebrates the wealth and diversity from European Heritage. A seal that is of utmost importance for MARQ, which is thus valued for its efforts to disseminate beyond our frontiers the cultural and archaeological history of the province of Alicante and of the civilisations that have populated the earth over the centuries, as well as their contribution to the creation of an common cultural space.
In addition, the EU also wants to ensure that the spaces and centres awarded with the European Heritage Label are dynamic and accessible to a wide audience. This distinction aims to highlight the educational value of the cultural heritage and its contribution both to economic development and to building inclusive, cohesive and sustainable societies. And, in this educational dimension, its objective is to with a special focus on children and young peopleThey will be the guardians of the transmission of cultural heritage to future generations.
