Alicante residents who decide to spend a few days in the Fortunate Islands will find in Santa Cruz de Tenerife another extraordinary cultural attraction: from tomorrow they will be able to visit the international exhibition in the Cultural Space of the CajaCanarias Foundation. Vikings. Warriors of the North, Giants of the Sea. The exhibition, made up of more than 600 pieces from the National Museum of Denmark, brings us closer to the Vikings and allows us to discover a host of unknown facets of these legendary warriors. We knew that they were adventurous and ruthless in their plundering, but perhaps we did not remember them as meticulous craftsmen and experts in the cultivation of the land, in the breeding of livestock and as great strategists in the art of war.
The spectacular Vikingos museum project at the Museo Arqueológico de Alicante was designed by the Rocamora Arquitectura studio and was nominated by one of the most important Spanish-language architecture websites, www.plataformaarquitectura.cl, for the ODA'17 Award, Work of the Year 2017, in the Cultural Architecture section. The same team also mounted the exhibition during its run at the Museo de la Marina in Lisbon and now in the capital of Tenerife.
More than 100,000 people visited the Marq during the ten months that the Vikings conquered the Archaeological Museum of Alicante.
