The MARQ opens the travelling exhibition "Light of Rome" in Vilamuseu, which includes more than forty pieces.

 

 

The MARQ travelling exhibition 'Light of Rome' will land tomorrow in the centre Vilamuseu in La Vila Joiosaafter its exhibition at the Museo de la Muralla de Molina de Segura, in the Region of Murcia, where it has been visited by more than 6,200 people. This exceptional proposal includes 43 pieces from various collections to gain first-hand experience of the utility, form and decoration of these small objects that changed over the centuries of Roman and Roman rule. can be visited in La Vila until 16 September..

This initiative, which has already been touring museums and cultural centres in Elda, Callosa de Segura, Cocentaina or SaxThe programme also consists of various explanatory panels which address issues related to the production and trade of lucernas, as well as to the two audiovisuals, a visitor's guide and a catalogue published in Valencian, Spanish and English.

It should also be noted that the objects that make up this compilation come from the Archaeological Museum of Alicante, the Monographic Museum of La Alcudia in Elche and the Municipal Archaeological Museum of Elda. Of all of them, a bronze example stands out, a glazed skylight decorated with two horse heads and a circular lamp and equipped with numerous light holes. The exhibition design revolves around a chronological axis that takes root in the Iberian period. However, the main part of the exhibition focuses on the pieces from the Roman period, distributed in their different stages: republican, high imperial, low imperial and late roman. In addition, two other sections are presented, one of them dedicated to the repertoire Roman decorative and another in which several parts are marked with the manufacturer's brand name
