RUPESTRE, the MARQ's exhibition for these months, is risky, original, enveloping and very seductive. Strolling through the three halls that house Rupestrian. The First Sanctuaries is to immerse oneself in a spectacular journey through the art of our first settlers, finding more than 200 pieces from 19 museums from all over Spain, which together with the MARQ, show us how the art of our first settlers was created. IWC Ingenieur Replica 20 cultural centres collaborate with each other for the benefit of the society they serve. A walk that takes us from the Altamira Cave, a universal reference of Palaeolithic art, to contemporary art with the abstraction of the Mallorcan Miquel Barceló, passing through the macro-schematic art of the Sanctuary of Pla de Petracos. The MARQ offers us a path through our inland mountains that brings us closer to more than four decades of research in Alicante and the rock art of our province; a work that was recognised in 1998, the year in which UNESCO included it in the Cave Art of the Mediterranean Arc of the Iberian Peninsula, in its prestigious list of World Heritage of Humanity. The first month of the exhibition has not yet been completed, and the public response has been spectacular: a total of 10,668 people have visited Rupestre since 5 July last, either as a free visit or on the 63 guided tours that have taken place to date. Enjoying a guided or dramatised visit is a unique opportunity to get closer to the way of life of our ancestors and appreciate their artistic legacy.
