Luz de Roma leaves Vilamuseu

  

The exceptional collection of Roman lanterns closed its doors this weekend. Light of Rome has been on display at the museum centre in La Vila Joiosa since 19 June and closed to the public on Sunday 16 September. During these summer months, Nearly 3,000 people (2,813 visitors) were able to see at first hand the use, shape and decoration of these 43 small objects that changed over the centuries of Roman rule.

An exhibition proposal that has been completed in the Vila with various explanatory panels, two audiovisuals, a guide and a catalogue. The pieces on display at the Vilamuseu include a bronze piece, a glazed skylight decorated with two horse heads and a circular lamp with numerous light holes.

This MARQ initiative, with the collaboration of the Banco Sabadell Foundation, which has already toured the museums and cultural centres of Elda, Callosa de Segura, Cocentaina, Sax, Molina de Segura and now La Vila Joiosa, is made up of objects from the Provincial Archaeological Museum of Alicante, the Monographic Museum of La Alcudia in Elche and the Municipal Archaeological Museum of Elda.
