A group of 51 5th and 6th grade students from Santa Ana School in Alcoy visited the MARQ this morning to carry out a language immersion activity in English through both the permanent collection and the International Exhibition. Iran. Cradle of Civilisations.
For the last three years, Santa Ana School has had a pedagogical innovation project called 'English Time Project', endorsed by the Consellería d'Educaciò, which proposes learning the English language in a practical and effective way, leaving aside textbooks to adapt their contents and materials to the real interests and needs of the pupils and making progress in learning English with the continued use of the spoken and written language. On this occasion, the 51 pupils from Santa Ana became historians and curious archaeologists with the help of the MARQ staff in English, which allowed them to learn everything related to the past in this language... verb tenses, expressions and vocabulary related to daily customs and ancient traditions, utensils... The schoolchildren were welcomed by the managing director of the Marq Foundation, José Alberto Cortés, and their visit to the MARQ allowed them to learn about the history of our province and also about the rich Iranian culture through a very edifying experience in English.
With the English Time method, the English language is learnt in a playful and meaningful way, through imitation, repetition and practice, in an atmosphere of affection and confidence. This improves the students' confidence so that they overcome their fear of communicating in the new language and are able to express themselves in a natural way.
