MARQ hosts today a series of conferences on Iranian civilisation and art

The MARQ is hosting an exhibition throughout the day today. series of conferences about culture, the art and Iranian civilisation in charge of professors, doctors and experts in the field. One hundred of students, academics and the general public will attend the talks, the inauguration of which was attended by the deputy for Culture and Education, César Augusto Asencioaccompanied by the dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Alicante, Juan Francisco Mesathe technical director of MARQ, Manuel Olcinaand the director of the CV-MARQ Foundation, José Alberto Cortés.

The proposal is part of the parallel activities to the international exhibition currently on display at the museum until next September, entitled Iran. Cradle of civilisations'.As the deputy explained, he stressed the importance of these initiatives to contextualise and provide more information on the international exhibitions hosted by the museum.

Archaeologists, technicians and experts from MARQ such as Jorge Soler, José Luis Menéndez o Rafael Azuarchaired some of the round table discussions with the participation of Rudi MattheeThe idea of Iran in the Safavid period: dynastic pre-eminence and urban pride' and 'The idea of Iran in the Safavid period: dynastic pre-eminence and urban pride'. José Cutillasfrom the University of Alicante, who spoke on 'The Carmelite missions and missionaries in Safavid Iran. Diplomacy and Religious Politics in the 16th-17th centuries'.

Also during the morning, the following spoke Enrique GarciaThe 'Spain and Iran during the First World War', from the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, CSIC-Madrid' to detail the relationship between 'Spain and Iran during the First World War'.

After the conclusions and questions, the afternoon session will continue with a talk by Fereidoun BiglariDeputy Director for Cultural Affairs of the National Museum of Iran, who will unveil the 'Palaeolithic Occupation of Iran, new evidence from the Zagros and Alborz Mountains'. He will be followed by Kamyar AbdiD. in Archaeology from the University of Michigan, USA, will explain the 'The axis of the four pillars. The essential role of the monarchy in the development of Iranian civilisation'. Finally, Karam MirzaeiD. in Art Research from the School of Art, Shahed University, Iran, will speak on 'Architectural Ornaments from the 6th to 14th centuries in the Museum of Archaeology and Islamic Art of Iran'. The closing speech will be given by José Alberto Cortés and José Cutillas.

Exhibition on Iran

Inaugurated last March, Iran, Cradle of Civilisations' is an ambitious exhibition that traces the trajectory of one of the world's most important most remote and prolific cultures of history through 195 piecesmany from sites that are World Heritage.

In addition to this exhibition, a complementary exhibition can also be visited until 1 September. Spain and Iran at the time of the Great Empires"."which deals with the diplomatic ties between the two countries during the reign of the Habsburgs and the Safavid empire.
