The director of the Permanent Seminar of Iranology of the University of Alicante, José Francisco Cutillas, has received at the MARQ his colleague Roberto Escarré, director of International Projects of the UA, who came to visit the international exhibition Iran. Cradle of Civilisationsaccompanied by two teachers from his department.
José Cutillas has also hosted Khodadad Rezakhani, Professor of Iranology at Princeton University in the United States.
A guided tour of the highest level, conducted by one of the leading experts on the history of Iran in our country, who is also Professor of Arabic and Islamic Studies, teaches History of Iran and Persian Language. Cutillas has focused his research on modern Iran, especially on the period from the Safavid dynasty to the 19th century. He is the author and editor of numerous publications and has participated in several research projects on Iran, developed at the UA (IHEI Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union), and as principal investigator of the MINECO project of excellence on Iranian individuals and communities in Spain and Portugal in the 16th-18th centuries. He has been visiting professor at universities in Spain (UNED, Granada, Salamanca), Portugal (Universidade Nova de Lisboa), and Iran (University of Allameh Tabatabai). He is a member of the editorial board of several scientific collections and journals on Iranian and Spanish history. He is also a founding member and advisory board member of the Ibero-Safavid Council for Historical Studies (iberosafavidstudies.es).
