With this action, the museums and centres that make up MUSEA-Alicante, on behalf of the City Council (the MACA, Las Cigarreras, the MUSA and the Exhibition Hall of the Lonja del Pescado, the Museum of Nativity Scenes and the Nueva Tabarca Museum), the Provincial Council (the Mubag, the Marq, and the Juan Gil Albert Institute), the University (the MUA), Aguas de Alicante (the Museum of Aguas de Alicante) and The Ocean Race Museum, join the proposal that the International Council of Museums (ICOM) launched yesterday to all the museums of the world to organise activities in situ once the closures are over, a three-day celebration between 14 November, which coincides with the Night of the Museums, and 16 November, the day on which ICOM celebrates its 74th anniversary. MARQ has been a member of ICOM since 2006.
Thus, around 18 May, the date on which this annual celebration of International Museum Day (IMD) takes place all over the world, Alicante's museums, also at the proposal of ICOM, will organise online activities under the slogan "Museums for Equality: Diversity and Inclusion".
The Alicante Museums, MUSEA, are already working together to present in the coming weeks the online activities of each of them for all audiences, which will be collected in a joint brochure, under the following hashtag: #Museusesadesdecasa #Yomequedoencasa #Juntosloconseguiremos that will join our Stay at Home with MARQ.
