The Archaeological Museum of Alicante is hosting today a new edition of the Blood Donation Marathon held on the occasion of World Donor Day. The Transfusion Centre of the Valencia Region and ASISA are promoting this solidarity initiative, which this year, due to the state of alarm, has reduced the number of volunteers attending, with the aim of creating a culture of altruistic, continuous and regular haemodonation to help save lives.
The marathon has been more limited in terms of the number of attendees and the organisation has taken into account all the additional security measures recommended by the health authorities. In this way, and to avoid excessive donor participation, the event has been publicised less widely and the individual citation has been reduced.
With regard to the blood collectionvolunteers will be available until 8.30 p.m.ensuring that the safety distances during waiting times, providing them with hydroalcoholic gel for hand washing, as well as mask and penamong other measures. In addition, the number of stretchers has almost halved in the same space compared to other years.
