The MARQ will host the Xi'an Warriors exhibition from 29 April to 31 October 2021.

The Archaeological Museum of Alicante (MARQ) will host between 29 April and 31 October 2021 the exhibition The Terracotta Warriors of Xi'an. Eternal guardians of the first emperor'.. The Vice-President and Member of Parliament for Culture, Julia ParraThe exhibition has been officially confirmed by the Shaanxi Cultural Heritage Promotion Centre this afternoon after several weeks of negotiations," he announced.

Julia Parra explained that "although the initial plan was to inaugurate the exhibition this year, in the current scenario marked by the international situation generated by the evolution of Covid-19, it has been decided by mutual agreement to move the dates to next year". The deputy thanked the cooperation maintained between all the parties involved in the project "reinforcing the commitment to make this exceptional exhibition a reality within the reach of all audiences".

The exhibition will bring to the MARQ an exceptional collection of about 160 pieces of material culture from ancient Chinaincluding 9 warriors and an original terracotta horse from the First Emperor's Mausoleum Museum, a World Heritage Site since 1987. Many of these pieces will return to Europe and some of them will visit it for the first time, after the last stay of the Xi'an Warriors at the Liverpool World Museum in 2018, where they were visited by more than 700,000 people.

 The vice-president expressed her conviction that "this great cultural event can make a decisive contribution to the reactivation of tourism in the province of Alicante and throughout the Valencian Community. We will work to ensure that it receives the best possible reception".

As a result of the exchange of official documentation between the parties, the definitive list of objects, their total valuation, the security measures plan and the loan protocol have also been obtained, and the necessary permits and authorisations have been requested from the Chinese and Spanish Ministries of Culture, respectively. Intense management work that advances in the planning and final programming of the different administrative phases of the project with all the guarantees, on the new dates now established.
