MARQ undertakes a new international project in Lisbon with the exhibition 'Idols. Millenary glances'.

The National Museum of Archaeology of Portugal (MNA), based in Lisbon, will exhibit Idols. Millenarian gazes'.an exhibition organised by the Archaeological Museum of Alicante (MARQ) and the Museum of Regional Archaeology of Madrid (MAR) with pieces from more than 22 museums in Spain and Portugal. This will be the third venue for the exhibition, which remains open to the public in Alcalá de Henares and which was first shown in Alicante in the first half of this year. The novelty, in Lisbon, lies in the important participation of the Portuguese museums, which contribute pieces that will be exhibited to the public for the first time.

The Vice-President and Member of Parliament for Culture, Julia ParraHe stressed that "with Idols, MARQ consolidates its international trajectory after the exhibition 'Alicante. Treasures of MARQ', which was on display from September 2019 to June 2020 at the National Museum of Iran in Tehran".

A delegation from Alicante from MARQ has travelled to the Portuguese capital for an intense programme of work meetings in order to finalise all the details of the exhibition in the Portuguese capital. National Museum of Archaeology of Portugal, where will run from February to October 2021. The working group that travelled to Lisbon at the end of last week included the managing director of the CV-MARQ Foundation, the director of the CV-MARQ Foundation and the director of the CV-MARQ Foundation.José Alberto Cortésthe commissioners of Idols, Jorge A. The Portuguese Ministry of Culture and its Directorate General of Cultural Heritage, through the MNA directed by Antonio Carvalhohas chosen the exhibition 'Idols. Miradas Milenarias' as one of the most important international cultural proposals part of the cultural offer that will be offered in the first half of 2021, coinciding with the period in which the Portuguese country will hold the rotating presidency of the EU. The exhibition has increased the number of pieces from 12 Portuguese museumswhich will be exhibited together with those of the 15 Spanish participating in the project.  

Idols. Miradas Milenarias' brings together a collection of anthropomorphic figures, known since the first half of the 20th century as "Idols", which make up a highly interesting collection of furniture from the first genuine, schematic representations of the human body and face. The exhibition brings the public closer to the world of the late Neolithic and the Chalcolithic of the first settlers on the Iberian Peninsula. 

The MARQ in Alicante, the MAR in Madrid and the MNA in Lisbon have joined forces in an exhibition that, in the light of the latest research, traces primitive societies, invoking lineage and ancestors in a joint project managed by the MARQ Foundation. From January to July this year the exhibition was visited in Alicante by 30,000 people and is currently on display at the MAR headquarters in Alcalá de Henares until 10 January.
