The Archaeological Museum of Alicante has organised a calendar of activities based around the figure of the archaeologist Solveig Norström to commemorate the International Women's Day. The proposals organised by the Didactic and Accessibility Unit of the C.V. MARQ Foundation will take place this weekend and include the publication of a guide, a talk and online workshops for children.
In this way, the Museum pays homage to the Swedish researcherso closely linked to the archaeological heritage of the province, on the occasion of his death last January. The deputy for Culture and vice-president of the Diputación, Julia ParraNordström was a woman ahead of her time who carried out her professional activity at a time when this discipline and the management of excavations fell mainly to men.
She said that "today her career is surprising not only for her rigour as a field archaeologist, but also for her courage in entering a foreign society whose values were at that time very different from those of her country of origin".
The MARQ has produced a didactic guide on Solveig Nordström, which will be the second volume of the collection. "Archaeology in feminine".The aim of this project is to make the role of women in archaeology more visible in order to promoting practices that favour gender equality.
There are two activities designed for the youngest children workshops on Iberian cultureThis was the period on which most of Solveig's work focused. In addition, and in line with the theme chosen by the UN this year - Women Leaders: For an Equal Future in the World of Covid-19".-visitors to MARQ will be able to learn about the role played by women throughout history and dispel myths through an interactive QR.

ONLINE ACTIVITIES
– Friday 5 March
11.00 a.m: online chat for Third Age Classrooms about women in the 1920s, using audiovisual resources that aim to reproduce episodes from Spanish history.
– Saturday 6 March
17:30: homage workshop to Solveig Nordström online "Iberian ceramics".. A replica of the piece with a serrated edge from the Iberian site of La Escuera (San Fulgencio), which was discovered by Solveig, will be decorated.
Materials needed to make the workshop at homeCylindrical/tubular container, preferably made of cardboard, ruler and tape measure, kraft paper or similar,
cardboard, compass, scissors, glue/white glue, pencil, black and red liquid paint (tempera or acrylic) or, failing that, markers and/or wood paints.

11.30 a.m: Solveig Nordström online workshop: "The life of archaeologist Solveig Nordström". The little ones will discover the life of Solveig and then take part in an Iberian ex-voto workshop to learn about the world of religion and the temples of the Iberians of Contestania.
Materials needed to do the workshop at home: salt dough (1 cup of flour + half cup of salt + water until the dough is formed), toothpick, paintbrush, white and orange paint to colour the ceramics, paint container.
