The next Saturday 14 August the Archaeological Museum of the Provincial Council of Alicante (MARQ) commemorates with a open day the twelfth anniversary of the opening to the public of the Almudaina Almohad Tower.
To celebrate this event, the fortress can be visited free of charge, prior registrationThe exhibition is open from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. In addition, there will be two guided tours also completely free of chargeat 11:00 and 19:00.
Visits on 14 August are limited to a maximum of one person. maximum of 6 persons per pass, with restricted and controlled access for individuals and families.. Visitors must keep a safe interpersonal distance during the tour. All protective equipment recommended by the health authorities is available in the building and to the public.
The Almudaina Tower is a Almohad monument owned by the Diputación de Alicante and managed by the MARQ Foundation.. It reopened its doors to the public on 14 August 2009. Since July last year, the site has been the venue for all of the safety measures necessary to preserve the health of its workers and visitorsfollowing the approval of a Contingency and Accessibility Plan with which the museum obtained the "Safe Tourism Certified" seal issued by the ICTE.
The Almohad Tower of Almudaina is a BIC -Bien de Interés Cultural- This monument has the status of a monument that introduces the visitor to the knowledge and enjoyment of the architecture, landscape and history. The monument from the Islamic period formed part of the fortified enclosure of a small farmhouse, known as "al-Mudayyina", the origin of the name of the town. Almudaina is located in the interior of the province of Alicante, in the mountainous region of El Comtat, 587 metres above sea level. It is an agricultural village of just over a hundred inhabitants, whose history is linked to the Almohad Islamic tower erected in the first half of the 13th century to defend its small farmhouse.
