In Memoriam

MARQ is saddened by the death of Mr. Rafael Martinez Campillo, who since 2019 has accompanied us as a Trustee from among the representatives of recognised social and cultural prestige that make up our Board of Trustees. We express our sorrow for his absence and we would like to express our deepest condolences to his family and friends..

D. Rafael Martínez-Campillo (Orihuela, 1953), a member of Congress between 1986 and 1993 and a close collaborator of Adolfo Suárez, had a long and recognised career as a town planning lawyer and an active member of the province's political history.

His incorporation to our Board of Trustees, to which he contributed all his wisdom, from the enthusiasm and commitment with which he accompanied us in every meeting, in every visit to our halls, to our exhibitions or book presentations, he offered us not only his great professional experience but also his sincere friendship, for which he will always remain among us.

D. Rafael understood the MARQ "as a forum open to history and knowledge, and also to the whole of society, with a didactic reference that connects it with the territory and its people". Defender of the "potential of the province He insisted on the cultural and social aspects and used to insist that "the paths of the future lie between culture and development, as the main objectives of the 2030 Agenda", enthusiastically supporting the MARQ's commitment to implement it in its action strategies. Such was his conviction that this in itself explains his important contribution to and participation in the working group of the Valencian Council of Culture in the Study on culture as a dynamic factor in the development of the Vega Baja.

Rest in Peace.
