The Provincial Council celebrates the IWD with a new exhibition and activities accessible to all publics

The Diputación de Alicante participates for for the tenth consecutive year in the events planned for the occasion of the International Museum Day (IMD) with a wide range of activities that will be offered from Wednesday onwards at the MARQthe MUBAG and the Juan Gil-Albert Institute of Culture of Alicante. The initiative, which is also joined by the cultural centres of Alicante City Council, the University, Aguas de Alicante and The Ocean Race, is being held this year under the slogan "...".The power of museums".

The Vice-President and Member of Parliament for Culture, Julia ParraShe detailed that activities have been prepared for audiences of all ages, including "the inauguration of a new exhibition at the MARQ and a gladiatorial combat in its gardens on Saturday afternoon and free guided tours also at the Gil-Albert Institute and the MUBAG". The Head of Culture assured that "with this wide and varied special programme, we want to invite the public to visit our museums, which are one of our main cultural strongholds and attractions".

The MARQ has oriented this day towards getting to know other civilisations, such as the Iron Age castreñathrough the exhibition The Atlantic Warriorwhich will open to the public on Wednesday 18 May, and the Roman exhibition "Gladiators. Heroes of the Coliseum", exhibitions that have different resources such as easy reading, 3D reproductions, sign language or Braille reading to improve accessibility for all audiences.

In addition, on Wednesday 18, there will be a guided visit to the Hall of the Middle Ages together with the 'Work like a medieval potter' workshop, with the participation of the group of Training and Employment of the Alicante Down's Syndrome Associationas well as the workshop 'My gladiator's shield' focused on the little ones at the Hospital Pedagogical Unit of the Dr. Balmis University Hospital of Alicante. In the afternoon there will be a workshop on the exhibition. 'The Atlantic Warrior' for children aged 6 to 12.

The #DIM2022 programming will continue this weekend with animated tours, storytelling and workshops for all audiencesas well as some activities specifically dedicated to ASPANION and APSA users. The workshops are aimed at showing the process of organising wrestling shows, the different types of gladiators and their equipment, the rules of combat and the anti-amphitheatres.

In addition, the MARQ gardens will be the setting on Saturday afternoon and evening for the '.gladiatorial combat'. recreated by the Hispania Romana Association. From 8:00 p.m. onwards, they will perform the development of a confrontation and its rules. The Juan Gil-Albert Institute of Culture of Alicante joins in the celebration of International Museum Day 2022 with the launch of a series of activities around the theme of the Day. Schwindel" exhibition by the artist from Pego Filiberto Siscar. In the MUBAGOn the occasion of International Museum Day, for the first time ever, the guided tours to the recently inaugurated permanent exhibition "The 19th century. The collection in the light", an exhibition with almost eighty works on display that will be open to visitors in three guided tours on 18 May, two at 12:00 noon and one at 6:00 pm. Through the MUBAG website, it will also be possible to access audiovisuals of different thematic blocks of the permanent exhibition. The power of photography in networkswill be the name of another of our proposed actions. From 18 to 22 May, visitors will be able to visit the 'The 19th century. The collection in the light' and its spaces to locate in the works only feminine and masculine accessories. The frames photographed with a smartphone will be shared on social networks, tagging @museomubag, and adding the hashtags #DIM2022 #ElPoderDeLosMuseos #ALaLuz. All the museums will present their visitors with a magnet with the slogan "The power of museums" and a representative image.
