With the month of July behind us, we have reached the halfway point of the campaign. Summer at MARQ 2022This is the 18th edition of a proposal that was born in 2005 from the Club Llumiq of the Fundación CV MARQ and is still going stronger than ever. It is time to take stock and we can finally say, after two very complicated years for reasons that we all know (the 2020 edition was suspended, although we did have online activities, which we will resume in 2021 although with a very reduced capacity) we can say with enthusiasm that we have returned to enjoy a summer holiday campaign like the ones we used to have before.
On this occasion, the script or guiding thread of most of our proposed activities has been the impressive world of the gladiators in ancient Rome, on the occasion of the presence of this fantastic international exhibition that we have at MARQ, "Gladiators. Heroes of the Coliseum".a strong argument that is a guarantee of success for our children's public. We have also worked on different workshops with our permanent exhibition, and with the magnificent international temporary exhibition, in collaboration with the National Museum of Archaeology of Portugal located in the Sala Noble of the MARQ Library: The Atlantic Warrior.
We can assure you that we have surpassed ourselves, as in these first four weeks we have reached capacity, with 160 students enrolled in total. This shows the enormous acceptance of our proposals. There are also many who want to come back for more than one week. Students from different backgrounds and ages ranging from 6 to 14 years old. However, the average age has been between 7 and 8 years old. As always, they were able to enjoy educational workshops (shields, greaves, mini coliseums, t-shirt printing, clay warrior, graffiti) and games, competitions... which allowed them to discover what life was like for these fighters and to understand the great shows in which they took part.
There are still four more weeks to go, until 26 August, where the volume of registrations is still very active and there are only a few places left to fill.
