The deputy for Culture and vice-president of the Diputación de Alicante, Julia ParraThe exhibition was inaugurated this afternoon in Rojales. "Guardians of Stone. The Castles of Alicante". together with the local mayor, Antonio Pérez Garcíathe Councillor for Culture, Inmaculada Chazarra and Manuel Villalgordo Saura, Regional Director Orihuela-Vega Baja of Banco Sabadell, in representsThe Bancaja Foundationo Sabadell.
Julia Parra said that "this new cultural experience is very exciting, almost at street level, with a location that shows that culture has a place anywhere and that our obligation as administrations is to bring it closer to citizens, making it closer and more accessible". The aim of this proposal is, according to the deputy, "to enhance the value of one of the most important architectural heritages, our castles and fortresses, with this selection of images, models and explanatory texts, the result of a meticulous research study".
The inauguration in Rojales was also attended by the director of the Archaeological Museum of Alicante MARQ, Manuel Olcina, José Luis Menéndezcurator of the exhibition; and José Alberto CortésManaging Director of the Fundación CV MARQ.
This is the fourteenth assignment of the exhibition "Guardians of Stone. Los Castillos de Alicante" of the MARQ, which began its tour in December 2015 with an exhibition that won the National Design Prize-Golden Emporia for the best travelling exhibition. The exhibition pays tribute to the more than 230 fortifications in the province which are a sample of Alicante's history.
