MARQ sets up more than a thousand square metres of exhibition space to welcome the 'Warriors of Xi'an'.

The President of the Diputación de Alicante, Carlos Mazónand the vice-president and deputy for culture, Julia ParraThe participants supervised the preparation works of the MARQ rooms that will host the exhibition. "The Legacy of the Qin and Han Dynasties, China". from 28 March next.

Mazón and Parra toured the three temporary rooms which, together with the Library area, will total more than one thousand one hundred metres square to receive the collection of more than 150 pieces among which are nine sculptures of the warriors of Xi'an and an original terracotta horse. The President highlighted the quality and relevance of this "historic project, unique in Europe, which has been years in the making and which represents a unique opportunity to contemplate pieces that will not be exhibited in Europe for a long time and which will allow us to get closer to an extraordinary culture". 

Julia Parra, for her part, thanked all the professionals involved "for the good progress of the work being carried out to prepare the MARQ to receive one of the most important international exhibitions to be shown in Alicante over the coming months and with which we want to once again provide an excellent service and attention to the large number of visitors we hope to receive, at the level of a first class museum".

The preparations began on 23 January and involve more than thirty techniciansMost of them are from Alicante, specialised in the field of museography and with experience in high-level exhibitions, not only at MARQ but all over the world. When the pieces arrive at the museum, this team of specialists will be increased by around 50 people with the participation of the couriers and specialists from the nine Chinese museums collaborating in the project (curators, scientists and personnel for assembling the pieces, among others). In addition, the project is currently involving the participation of collaboration of more than 200 people together with museum teams from Shaanxi, Xi'an and Alicante..
