The Neolithic site of the Cova de l'Or in Beniarrés opens for visits on Saturday 18th March.

Visits to the site of the Cova de l'Or managed from the MARQ in collaboration with Beniarrés Town Council, resume this weekend with a suggestive route of cultural and scenic interest that starts at the Interpretation Centre located in the town centre of the municipality.

The Vice-President and Member of Parliament for Culture, Julia ParraHe added that "from 18th March until 2nd July, the period of visits to this unique enclave of great archaeological and landscape value, improved in recent years thanks to the intervention of the Diputación de Alicante, through the MARQ, with the collaboration of the municipality, will take place".

From Saturday onwards, and by prior appointment through the museum website of the Alicante Provincial CouncilThe site, which is fundamental for understanding the Neolithic period on the Mediterranean coast of the Iberian Peninsula, is open to those interested and can also enjoy the environmental and landscape heritage of the surrounding area of the Benicadell mountain range.

The quality and significance of the archaeological material found in the excavations carried out since the 1930s have led to the conclusion that the cavity was an important archaeological site.ocial reference place for settlers of Mediterranean origin who, in the middle of the 6th millennium BC, introduced the practice of agriculture and livestock farming.

Access to both the Interpretation Centre and the Cova de l'Or site is limited to guided visits promoted by the C.V. MARQ Foundation, following the agreement signed with Beniarrés Town Council, with the aim of preserving the value of the historical legacy of the archaeological site converted into a Site Museum. Free visits are not allowedThe maximum capacity is 15 people per show, without prior arrangement, and the maximum capacity is 15 people per show.

The guided tour begins at the Interpretation Centre with a tour of the museum and the projection of a video to contextualise the space and its surroundings. From there, the itinerary continues in vehicle -included in the service offered-. to the start of the path leading to the site. After a short walk, and following the instructions of the guides, you can enter the cave.

The price is 3 euros for schoolchildren and 5 euros for the generic version. and the current timetable is Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 to 14:00, with departures at 09:00 and 11:30.
