Open day to commemorate International Day for Monuments and Sites in the province

The MARQ CV Foundation joins in the celebration of the International Day for Monuments and Sites, which is celebrated around the world every 18 April, with an open day in the archaeological sites of Lucentum in Alicante and La Illeta in El Campelloas well as in the Almudaina Almohad Towera monument rehabilitated and enhanced by the Diputación de Alicante, which together with the Cava Gran de Agres enrich the tourist and cultural offer of the interior of the province of Alicante.

The Tossal de Manises is the site of the Roman city of LucentumThe ancient Alicante, probably developed from an Iberian settlement on the hilltop and located in Albufereta.  La Illeta dels Banyetsin El Campello is one of the best known archaeological sites in Alicante. It is an ancient peninsula that was separated from the coast due to an earthquake, which destroyed and eroded the part that joined it to the land. In 1943 it was reattached to the land to form a natural breakwater.

The recovery by the Diputación de Alicante and the opening to the public, in August 2009, of the Almudaina Towerdeclared Bien de Interés Cultural-BIC with the status of Monument, makes it a powerful cultural resource as a "cultural resource".site museum"It is at the service of its inhabitants and all those who visit it.  Built in the first half of the 13th century, it is one of many defensive farmhouse towers erected in the eastern region of al-Andalus shortly before the Christian conquest.

With regard to the Cava Gran de Agres, has a singular significance because of the iconic character that its spectacular arcade has acquired, symbol of the Sierra de Mariola Natural Park. It is one of the most outstanding buildings which served the ice industryThe last four hundred years have seen a large number of these constructions for the storage and deposit of snow. The province of Alicante contains an outstanding concentration of these constructions, most of them in the highest areas of the Sierra de Mariola. Acquired in 2008 by the Diputación Provincial de Alicante. in order to ensure its conservation and restoration, from 2016 is available to society as a whole as "site museum"The visit to the ice museum is a great opportunity to enjoy its architecture and the landscape to which it belongs, and to learn about the history of the ice industry, all of which is a further incentive to visit it.

The open day will be held during normal opening hours:

Tossal de Manisses-Lucentum (Alicante) and La Illeta dels Banyets (El Campello) from 10:00h to 14:00h and from 15:30h to 17:30h.

Almudaina Almohad Tower from 10:00h to 13:00h.

Cava Gran de Agres with visit Free, subject to the regulations of the Serra Mariola Natural Park.

With the recommendations for use of comfortable shoes and cap/hat and bring a bottle of water and sun protection.
