The exhibition La Dama Viajera (The Travelling Lady) at the MAHE shows the journeys from its discovery to its arrival at the National Archaeological Museum.

 

The exhibition The Travelling Lady, inaugurated at the MAHE in Elche on 25 October 2022 and promoted by the Royal Order of the Lady of Elche, the Department of Culture of the Provincial Council of Alicante and the CV MARQ Foundation, is extended until 31 May, according to the agreement reached with the MAHE, the Archaeological and History Museum of Elche "Alejandro Ramos Folqués" and the Department of Culture of the City Council of Elche.

An exhibition that has already been enjoyed by 8,626 people and in which the spectator can discover, through old photographs, the journeys made by the Lady of Elche, from its discovery, after its sale and subsequent journey to France, its numerous transfers to avoid being destroyed during the Second World War, until its definitive return to Spain, together with other Iberian and Visigothic pieces.

According to Juan de Dios Navarro, deputy for Culture of the Diputación of AlicanteThis project has made it possible to learn about the itineraries of the Dama de Elche since it was discovered in La Alcúdia, a benchmark of our Iberian art, as well as the The succession of journeys and kilometres he has travelled, sometimes unknown, that surround his journey, and which make this exhibition unique".

In May 2022, the MARQ CV Foundation and the Royal Order of the Lady signed a collaboration agreement to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the Finding of the Lady of Elche. By virtue of this agreement, both entities expressed their support and interest in extolling the importance of a celebration that would highlight both the city of Elche, its cultural and archaeological heritage, and the province of Alicante as a reference point for Iberian culture and art.
