The international exhibition "The Legacy of the Qin and Han Dynasties, China. The warriors of Xi'an" has received 73,456 visitors at the MARQ three months after its inauguration. An influx of visitors that has been increased with the extension of the summer opening hours of the Archaeological Museum of Alicante from 10 am to 10 pm continuously from Tuesday to Saturday and Sundays and holidays from 10 am to 2 pm.
A cultural activity that is reinforced with the MARQ summer school edition. Summer which will be open to children aged between 6 and 12 during the months of July and August, starting on Monday 3 July. Workshops and activities to teach children about our history and archaeology, with special emphasis this year on the chronological context of the Qin and Han dynasties so that they can compare and locate in time the birth and development of cultures so distant from ours in the East and West.
The exhibition of the Warriors of Xi'an will remain in Alicante until 28 January 2024 and includes an outstanding selection of 10 original terracotta sculptures, 9 warriors and 1 horse, which is the maximum number of these pieces currently authorised by the National Cultural Heritage Administration of China (NCHA) based in Beijing, Along with them, another 120 pieces or sets of these originals, some of which have never been exhibited outside China, and 5 replicas, including 2 chariots, which are distributed in the three temporary halls of the MARQ. The Noble Room of its Library is dedicated to a video in which impressive images of this great country are projected, bringing the visitor closer to the China of today.
Promoted by the Provincial Council of Alicante and the C.V. MARQ Foundation, it is the result of collaboration with the State Administration of Cultural Heritage of China, the Shaanxi Provincial Bureau of Cultural Heritage and the Shaanxi Cultural Heritage Promotion Centre, with a careful selection of objects from 9 Chinese museums and institutions, including the Shaanxi Museum of History and the Museum of the Mausoleum of Qin Shi Huang.
This exhibition presents the public with a new experience, guided by archaeological science. With the collaboration of the ASISA and La Caixa Foundations, it has been recognised by the Governments of China and Spain as one of the most outstanding cultural cooperation projects of 2023, within the extensive programme of bilateral activities and initiatives to be developed on the occasion of the "China-Spain Cultural and Tourism Year" that both governments have agreed to organise on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the two countries on 9 March 1973".
